Headteacher summoned after thieves break into govt school, steal 19 computers valued at Shs 80 million

The Central Police Station, Butebo has summoned the headteacher of Kanginima Seed Secondary School for statement recording after thieves swept the school’s computer lab clean.

A source in the position of authority tells Kampala Gazette that the territorial police in Butebo is investigating a case of burglary and theft Vide CRB 85/2023 of Butebo Police Station.

It’s alleged that in the night of 05/08/2023 at unknown time, unknown person(s) broke into the Computer Lab of Kanginima Seed Secondary School and stole Nineteen (19) sets of Computer (CPU), (Eleven) 11 Display Monitors all valued at Shs Eighty Millions (80.000.000 shs).

Two people have already been arrested.

They are: Kamusyo Abdul-ICT Teacher and Lipoto Luuka-Night watchman) while the school’s headteacher Ronald Buyi Yobu has been summoned to record statement.

Kamya, the night guard told Police that he took over duties from Lipoto Luuka, a watchman (Night shift). However, he realized that the door to the Computer Lab had been tempered with, and the said set of Computers and monitors were missing.

“Efforts are underway to review CCTV footage for clues on the perpetrators of the attack on the school,” a source says.
