How UIA DG Mukiza Caused Sacking of Lagan Dott Country Representative
Days ago, it emerged that Lagan Dott sacked its country representative, Andrew Bemanya.
Lagan Dott is charged with the development of Namanve Industrial Park.
The company recently sacked Bemanya following a letter from the Director General of the Uganda Investment Authority (UIA).
“I would like to refer to the letters I wrote to you on 27th June and 29th July, respectively, registering the employer’s dissatisfaction with your company’s authorized representative, Andrew Bemanya, where I requested that, in the interest of the project, he get relieved of his duties,” reads part of the letter dated August 14, 2024.
Sources say that Lagan Dott was reluctant to sack Bemanya.
However, they were forced to.
“Instead of implementing the request, you took the path of defending him regrettably based on inaccurate arguments,” added Mukiza.
Lagan Dott argued that they did not see Bemanya’s contradiction on VOP cre.. hostilities, toxicity, conflicts, and confusion in the organization.
But Mukiza insisted that “On 27th February and 12th March 2024, Mr. Bamanya, representing the contractor, requested the employer through the employer representative (ER) to urgently release payment of the monthly application of no. 22. (Attached for reference). After officially making the payment request to the employer, which he didn’t rescind, he turned to my line minister, Hon. Evelyn Anite, and told her that the employer (UIA) is forcing contractor Lagan DOTT Namanve Limited to be paid €8 million they don’t need. The minister suddenly waged onslaught against us on grounds that we are planning to steal € 8m.”
Basing on Mukiza’s argument, Bemanya was sacked last month.
