Hunger kills 226 locals of Nabilatuk Town Council, report says

A report to the Chief Administrative Officer, Nabilatuk district shows that 226 residents of five villages in Nabilatuk Town Council have died of hunger.
According to the report compiled by Nabilatuk Town Council Town Cler John Longolio, 41 persons died in Naupala ward, 61 in Central ward, 78 in Arenesiep ward, 31 in Lolet and 15 in Natopojo – putting total deaths at 226.
“With the current situation at hand, we request the district disaster management committee to lobby for any support from donors to avert the starvation of the community,” Longolio wrote to his CAO.
Data shows that at least 518,000 people (over 40 percent of the population) in Karamoja Sub-region are facing high levels of food insecurity, with many residents now eating grass to survive.
