Territorial traffic Police in Kinoni, Friday registered a fatal accident at Kyoja Trading Centre along the Masaka-Mbarara highway, claiming lives of nine people on spot.
We have exclusive identified the deceased as:
Francis Bbale, 38; a Network Manager with National Water Sewerage Corporation – NWSC; Mercy Nakawessi, 33. Bbale and Nakaweesi were a couple.
Christopher Ntege, 37, an old boy of St Mary’s College, Kisubi; Cinderella Mutesi, 29; Ntege Tayben, 5, and Juliana Narakka Florence, 2 were a family.
Others have been identified as Wyclif Kabugo, 28; Joseph Sserunkuma, 38 and Sam Mutyaba, 33.
What happened..
The accident in which the nine died involved a motor vehicle registration number UBL 314C an Alphad, that was traveling from Kampala side heading to Mbarara and motor vehicle reg no SSD 327S/SSD 137Q that was from Mbarara/Kinoni town. The two motor vehicle had a head on collision. Preliminary findings indicate that the Alphard driver was at high speed and was keeping right, where he crashed head-on with the fuel tanker killing nine people on spot who were passengers in the Alphard.
We have established that Bbale was taking his family and friends to his country home in Masaka for Easter.
By press time, the bodies were at Masaka Regional Referral Hospital pending a postmortem exercise.
