The territorial traffic police at Adwila along the Lira-Soroti road has today 15th December 2022 registered a fatal accident involving motor vehicle Reg No UG 0337G, a Ford Ranger belonging to the Ministry of Internal Affairs and a motorcycle Bajaj Boxer Reg No UEU 841C. The incident claimed a life of a police officer identified as PC Micah Muhindo. 

It is alleged that the driver, No 64670 PC John Oginere, and a police officer attached to the Ministry of Internal Affairs while coming from Soroti upon reaching Adwila, knocked the rider, Bob Odongo, who lost control, and knocked Muhindo to death. The rider, too, died on the way to lira regional referral hospital. 

Traffic and Road Safety Spokesperson Faridah Nampiima confirmed the incident.

“The driver has been arrested and is in our custody to help in investigations,” said Nampiima in a statement.

Our sincere condolences to the family of the deceased officer and Odongo, she added.

“We wish to remind all road users to be vigilant while using the roads and drive responsibly especially during this festive season.”
