International Journalist Based In Uganda Dies In Nasty Road Accident

An international journalist based in Uganda last evening died in a road accident at Chopelwo along the Gulu-Kampala highway. The deceased has been identified as Sadurni Carrasco Sumaya, 33, a Spanish national working with International Press Association. The driver of the vehicle (Toyota Rav4 – UAS 597U), Thomas Mugisha, 42, also died.
According to Traffic and Road Safety Spokesperson, Faridah Nampiima, the Rav4 collided (head-on) with a Fuso truck (UAL 192U), killing the occupants on spot. The driver of the truck escaped the scene and according to Nampiima, efforts to have him arrested are underway.
The bodies are at Kiryandongo mortuary for a postmortem examination.
