It’s not a sin to go to Gen. Saleh’s home – NSSF Acting MD, Patrick Ayota

By Davis Mugabi

The Acting Managing director of the National Social Security Fund – NSSF – Patrick Ayota has distanced himself from a meeting of the Fund’s Board at Gen. Caleb Akandwanaho alias Gen. Salim Saleh’s home in Kapeeka.

In a recently leaked dossier, it was portrayed that a meeting of the Board (of NSSF) at Gen. Saleh’s Kapeeka residence dropped the decision to renew the outgoing MD’s contract. Richard Byarugaba is currently out of office at the expiry of his contract last year. The same meeting is said to have approved the renewal of Ayota’s contract. Indeed, Ayota’s contract was renewed as Deputy Managing Director of the NSSF. He was also appointed the Acting MD of the Fund.

While interacting with the media on Wednesday at Workers House in Kampala during the release of the performance report for Half-Year, Ayota said while he was not invited to Kapeeka, it is not a crime to go to Gen. Saleh’s home.

“It is not a sin to go to Gen. Saleh’s home,” Ayota said, adding that “I was not invited.”

So, he added: “I don’t know the kind of discussion that was there otherwise I would be speculating.”
