Jacob Oulanyah: Two Dead As Omoro By-Election Draws First Blood

Two people have been confirmed dead following an accident in the eastern district of Kumi.
Denis Waiswa (Kawempe) and Yakub Kiggundu (Iganga), all councilors of the National Unity Platform (NUP), the largest opposition political party (by representation in Parliament) died Saturday afternoon when the car they were travelling in had an accident.
NUP confirmed the incident in a tweet.
The NUP says they were traveling to Omoro to join the party’s campaign team in Omoro by-election.
BBS TV journalist, Amon Kitamirike, is among the injured and is reportedly respoding to treatment at Atutur hospital.
Omoro county goes to polls on May 26, 2022. This as they replace former Speaker Jacob Oulanyah who died in the United States on March 20, 2022.
