Jinja: Unknown assailants attack UPDF barracks, kill one officer after another leaves to buy cigarettes

By An Executive Editor

Unknown assailants riding on motor cycles have killed a UPDF officer guarding Gadaffi Barracks in Jinja. Two guns were stolen in the violent attack.

Well-placed sources say the deceased was on guard with another. However, one of them left for a nearby shop to buy cigarette. It was within that space that the attackers approached their target, shot, killed and stole guns.

The UPDF Spokesman, Brig. Gen. Felix Kulaigye, is yet to issue a statement on the matter.

However, the Minister for Presidency, Milly Babalanda, has condemned the attack.

“I strongly condemn the bloody attack on innocent cops on duty in Jinja this evening. These cowardly acts of terror will be defeated like all others. Let’s be vigilant and report bad elements.”
