The Electoral Commission has announced the recruitment of 15 election officers and assistants and district election administrators.

The Commission said on Friday that applicants should be Ugandans holding honors bachelor’s degrees in arts, social sciences, development studies, education, business administration, law, IT, procurement, or a related field in humanities from a recognized university/institution.

Adjustment of Commencement of the Exercise for General Update of the National Voters’ Register

The Electoral Commission is mandated under Article 61 (1)(e) of the Constitution of the Republic of Uganda, 1995, (as amended), and Sections 18 and 20 of the Electoral Commission Act (Cap 140) to compile, maintain, revise, and update the National Voters Register.

In preparation for the 2025/2026 General Elections, the Electoral Commission released a Roadmap wherein the update of the National Voters Register was scheduled to commence on 3^rd January 2025 until 24^th January 2025.

However, this exercise has been rescheduled and will now commence on 20^th January 2025, and conclude on 10^th February 2025.

The update exercise will be conducted at update stations throughout Uganda, starting from 8:00 am to 6:00 pm, on each of the appointed dates, including weekends.

The purpose of the update exercise is to:

Enable eligible Ugandan citizens of 18 years and above, who are not yet registered as voters, to do so;
Enable registered voters who wish to transfer to new voting locations, to apply for such transfer;
Enable registered voters to check and confirm that their particulars are correct and appear on the Voters Register at the voting locations that they indicated during registration; and,
Enable students who were registered by the National Identification and Registration Authority (NIRA) and have since attained the age of 18 years to present their particulars, that is, the National Identification Number (NIN), for updating and assignment of a polling station within their parish of residence or origin.

The Commission urges students of 18 years and above to take advantage and register or update their particulars during this exercise before they return to school.

The Electoral Commission appeals to all stakeholders in the electoral process to participate in the General Update exercise, following the guidelines that will be issued for the exercise.
