Kabarole records 2,247 abortions in 1 year, spends Shs 1 billion on post care

At least 2,247 abortions were recorded between January and December 2020 in Fort Portal, statistics recorded at Health facilities show.
These are among the many unreported cases in the communities.
These revelations came up during the Family Planning Accountability Mechanism and Advocacy at Nyaika Hotel in Fort Portal Wednesday morning.
Deputy Resident City Commissioner (D/RCC), Festus Bandeeba, confirmed the figures and said “government spent Shs 1 billion on Post Abortion Care.”
Bandeeba emphasized the need to for planned health and sensitization on the use of family planning methods.
