Kajjansi: Police probe attack on Rights Activist, say “He is out of danger”

By Davis Mugabi

Police in Kajjansi are investigating circumstances, under which one Steven Kabuye was attacked and stabbed by unknown assailants.
Mr. Kabuye, aged 25 years, an employee of the Coloured Voices Media Foundation located in Lukuli, Buziga and a Human Rights activist, was attacked this morning at around 7:30 am, while he was going to work.
He was attacked around Makandwa, Lumuli Parish, Kajjansi Town Council.

Kampala Metropolitan Police Spokesman Patrick Onyango says Police Detectives have visited him at Namulundu Medical Centre in Bwebajja, where they got he was just coming out of the operation room.

He is out of danger, Onyango said.
Mr. Kabuye alleges that two unknown men riding on unidentified motor cycles and putting on helmets when they reached him stopped and the passenger jumped off the motor cycle and attacked him, wanting to slaughter his throat, but he guarded his neck with his right arm, and that is how he was stabbed in the hand.
He managed to runaway, but the assailant followed him and stabbed him in the stomach, and the knife remained there. He made an alarm and the assailants took off leaving him unconscious.
“The residents noticed his condition and took him to the clinic. When they reached the clinic, he was immediately taken to the operation room to have the knife removed from the stomach,” Onyango added.

According to Mr. Kabuye’s narrations, he has been receiving threats since March 2023, when he went abroad in June 2023, but came back home in December 2023 for Christmas.
