Kampala: Man killed after couple disagree over child’s medical bill

A man in Kampala has died following a domestic disagreement over a child’s medical bills.

The latest is that the Nateete Police Station is investigating a tragic incident that occurred in the early hours of April 15, 2024, at Nateete Central B Zone, Mabiito, Rubaga Division, Kampala District.

At approximately 0445 hours, a dispute arose between Ronald Kintu, alias Rasta, and Ms. Janat Natukunda, an alleged sex worker, over financial support for their child’s medical treatment. Unfortunately, the altercation escalated, resulting in Kintu being stabbed in the neck and chest with a knife. Despite immediate efforts to transport him to Mengo Hospital, he succumbed to his injuries upon arrival.

Deputy Kampala Metropolitan Police Spokesperson, Luke Owoyesigyire, said that in response, the Nateete Police Station swiftly initiated investigations, leading to the apprehension of Ms. Natukunda, who is currently in custody.

“The crime scene was meticulously examined by our specialized teams, leading to the recovery of the murder weapon, a knife. Additionally, forensic evidence, including swabs and photographs, was collected for further analysis,” said Owoyesigyire.

By press time, the body of the deceased was at the city mortuary for a comprehensive post-mortem examination.
