Kampala: Passenger dies before paying Shs 5, 000 taxi fare
By Marvin Ocol
There is still shock downtown in Kampala after a taxi conductor attempted to wake up a dead passenger to pay his fare.
on Thursday morning, Peter Apangu boarded a taxi registration number UAU 859L from Katooke to Kampala.
Usually, this costs about Shs 5, 000.
However, upon the taxi reaching Kampala, and as other passengers disembarked, Apangu remained seated, as though dozing.
Attempts by the conductor and his driver to wake Apangu up proved futile. He had breathed his last.
The Central Police Station Kampala is investigating the matter, Kampala Metropolitan Police Deputy Spokesperson Luke Owoyesigyire says.
John Semwogerere (driver) and Bruno Mawejje (conductor) have been arrested to aid investigation.
