The suspect was arrested with the head of K9 Unit
Police in Kanungu District have arrested a woman identified as Nizamukunda Noziatah in connection with the theft of coffee from a resident’s garden in Nganga Village, Nyanga Parish, Nyanga Subcounty.
According to police, the suspect allegedly stole coffee belonging to Tindimuwa Mathias on the night of November 13, 2025. After the incident was reported, a team of investigators, accompanied by the Canine Unit, swiftly responded to the scene.
At the well-preserved crime scene, a police sniffer dog named Clara picked up the suspect’s scent and successfully tracked it for nearly 200 meters. The trail led officers directly to the suspect’s home, where the stolen coffee was recovered as evidence.
Nizamukunda was subsequently arrested and is currently in police custody. She is expected to appear in court soon.
Police have applauded the effectiveness of the K9 unit in the operation and urged the public to always preserve crime scenes to support investigations and enhance the chances of recovering stolen property.
