Kassanda: Head teacher held over aggravated Defilement

The territorial Police in Kassanda is holding a Headteacher for allegedly defiling his student.
The suspect has been identified as Ssekayombya Jonathan, 34, the head teacher of Brain Star Secondary School and a resident of Wakayiba Trading Centre, Kalwana Sub-County in Kassanda District.
The victim is a 17-year-old, a student at Brain Star Secondary School.
Regional Police Spokesperson SP Rachael Kawala confirmed the arrest.
Preliminary findings indicate that the victim has been a student at Brain Star Secondary School in her Senior One. It is alleged that the head teacher fell in love with the victim in the month of August 2023 and allegedly defiled her.
The victim ended up pregnant and also dropped out of school and has been currently staying at her mother’s home, heavily pregnant.
On 26.02.2023, the Police were tipped off by residents about the incident, leading to the arrest of Ssekayombya.
“A case of aggravated defilement has been opened up, vide Kassanda CRB. 151/2024,” said SP Kawala. “The victim has been issued with Police Medical Form 3A for Medical Examination.“
By press time, the suspect was being detained at the Central Police Station in Kassanda.
