Kireka: Pupil killed after truck crashes into school

A pupil of Candy Kids Nursery and Primary School in Kamuli C, Kireka has died after a truck crashed into the school.

The motor vehicle crashed into the perimeter fence, claiming the life of 7-year-old Nakafero Robina, a pupil in P2 class.

According to Kampala Metropolitan Police (KMP), the vehicle, a Mitsubishi Canter with registration number UAZ 896J, collided with the fence at approximately 7:10am, causing fatal injuries to Nakafero.

“The authorities were immediately alerted, and the police responded promptly to the scene. The body of the deceased has been taken to Mulago Hospital for postmortem examination,” Deputy KMP Spokesperson Luke Owoyesigyire confirmed the incident. “We extend our deepest condolences to the family and friends of Robina, and we share in their grief during this difficult time. Our thoughts are with the entire Candy Kids school community, who have been deeply affected by this tragic event.”

Owoyesigyire says that the driver of the vehicle has been apprehended, “and the vehicle towed to Kira Police station as inquiries into the matter have been initiated.”

” We urge the public to exercise caution on the roads and to prioritize the safety of themselves and others. We will continue to keep the public informed as more details emerge from the ongoing investigation,” Owoyesigyire said.
