A registration committee that was set up to register all the affected people, houses destroyed, and suspected homes in Kiteezi has presented its report.

This follows an incident in which garbage collapsed and covered people and livestock at the weekend.

While presenting their report on Wednesday, the committee said:
1. 120 people were registered in the camp (temporary shelter) at Kiteezi Church of Uganda Primary School play ground.
2. 39 people were registered as missing. This includes 35 community members (local residents) and four garbage collectors.
3. 33 homes are suspected to have been covered by debris.

By 6 p.m. on Wednesday, more bodies had been recovered from the search and rescue operation, bringing the number of bodies retrieved to 30.

Going by the committee report, this means that nine bodies are still trapped under the garbage.
