Ivan Mwijukye, a prominent activist within the National Resistance Movement (NRM), has announced his intention to seek a student leadership position at Kyambogo University. Mwijukye, a member of the NRM Revolutionary Network (NRN)—a youth-driven platform—has been at the forefront of calls for reform within the party.
In recent months, Mwijukye and his peers have demanded greater transparency and accountability from NRM leadership. Among their proposals is the suggestion that candidates for the speakership race participate in public debates, rather than being endorsed by the Central Executive Committee (CEC) without undergoing the proper legal process.
Mwijukye’s campaign is underscored by a message of determination and agency. As one of his posters boldly declares: “This time, we are not asking, we are deciding.”
His bid for student leadership at Kyambogo University is seen as an extension of his activist work, aiming to inspire youth engagement and drive change within Uganda’s political landscape.
