Land Rover Recalled Nearly 112,000 Range Rover Sports, LR4s Over Fire Risk in 2022
A businessman in Kampala Thursday morning suffered loses after his Range Rover Sport caught fire between Kampala and Masaka.
The Police’s Directorate of Traffic and Road Safety could not identify the cause of fire at the time.
However, an article first published on Cars (.Com) last August shows that some Specific rides were recalled over risk of fire.
The article reads Owners of aging Land Rover Range Rover Sport and LR4 luxury SUVs, beware: A new recall issued by the brand for more than 111,700 vehicles aims to fix an issue that could lead to a fire.
Specifically, the fuel outlet flange mounted on the fuel tank may crack, possibly resulting in a fuel leak. In the presence of an ignition source, such leakage increases the risk of a fire. Affected SUVs include model-year 2010-13 Range Rover Sports and model-year 2010-16 LR4s equipped with either Land Rover’s 3.0-liter V-6 or 5.0-liter V-8 engines.
To resolve the problem, dealers will replace the fuel outlet flange for free. Land Rover will begin notifying owners Oct. 8, 2021.
