Col. Rtd. Dr. Kizza Besigye
Opposition Forum for Democratic Change (FDC) continues to stay away as its ex-party leader, Kizza Besigye, remains in detention.
Besigye and his associate, Hajj Obeid Lutale, were recently arrested in Kenya, driven to Kampala, and charged before the military court in Makindye.
The duo faces charges of unlawful possession of firearms and ammunition.
On Monday, opposition politicians, including Robert Kyagulanyi (NUP), Mugisha Muntu (ANT), Ken Lukywamuzi, and other politicians, condemned the alleged violation of Besigye and Lutale’s rights.
Although these politicians came together, the FDC remained away. Besigye is among the founders of the FDC. He contested for the presidency four times under the FDC flag. However, he stepped aside until he was forced out by the Amuriat-led group.
