Makerere College student commits suicide after father gets him a place at St Kizito S.S

A student of Makerere College in Kampala has died under what investigators say may have been suicide.

The student has been identified as Emmanuel Okello, 18, who lived with his parents at Parliament Village, Kitukutwe, Kiwologoma in Kira Municipality.

Kampala Metropolitan Police have confirmed the incident.

According to the Deputy Spokesperson in charge KMP, Luke Owoyesigyire, the deceased who was the son of Moses Opio, yesterday locked his father in the house after his siblings had been taken to school and committed suicide in the compound.

According to his father, the deceased had informed them that he was no longer interested in going back to his former school, Makerere College.

Against the above background, his father got for him a position at St Kizito S.S, Namugongo.

However, family sources say he was not happy with his father’s choice.

“The father suspects it could be the cause if the suicide,” an investigator says.

The body of the deceased has been taken to the mortuary for a postmortem, Owoyesigyire said.

At the time of his death, Okello was going to Senior 4 (S.4).
