Hannah Kalema
Former Miss Uganda 2023, Hannah Kalema Tumukunde, has set her sights on the 92nd Guild Presidency of Makerere University.
Kalema, a second-year student of Social Sciences, is reportedly assembling her campaign team ahead of the 2026 Guild elections.
“She wants the Guild seat,” a source privy to Kalema’s move said earlier this evening.
In recent years, Makerere’s student politics have largely been dominated by candidates aligned with opposition political parties. The current 91st Guild President is an NUP-leaning candidate, reflecting the university’s growing trend toward opposition-backed leadership.
It remains unclear which political party, if any, Kalema will identify with as she prepares to enter the race. Her decision could shape not only her campaign’s direction but also the broader political dynamics within Makerere’s vibrant student community.
The 92nd Guild elections are slated for early 2026.
