Man who died in Kiryandongo accident with journalist Sadurni Carrasco Sumaya: He was a local NGO Executive Director

Following an accident that occured in Kiryandongo on Monday evening, killing journalist Sadurni Mumaya, many referred to the other occupant of the car as ‘driver’. Whereas he was driving, Kampala Gazette has learnt that Thomas ‘Zzambi’ Mugisha was the Executive Director of Hope for Peace and Conflict Resolution Centre, a local Non-Governmental Organization.

Sumaya, 33, a Spanish national was working with International Press Association. They were driving in a Toyota Rav4 (UAS 597U) they collided (head-on) with a FUSO truck (UAL 192U), killing the occupants on spot. The driver of the truck escaped the scene and according to Traffic Directorate Spokesperson Faridah Nampiima, efforts to have him arrested are underway.

By press time, bodies of Mugisha and Sumaya were still at Kiryandongo hospital for a postmortem.
