NABBED: Lwanyaga Joseph
Police have made a breakthrough in two cases of aggravated robbery involving motor vehicles reported on May 10 in Bukasa village, Wakiso District. The incidents involved the theft of a white Toyota RAV4 (registration number UAL 130P) and a white Toyota Harrier (registration number UBR 645J).
Following swift investigations aided by CCTV surveillance, officers from the Flying Squad and Wakiso Police traced the stolen Toyota Harrier to SS Bar and Gardens in Mukono Town. Two suspects were arrested at the scene, and the vehicle was successfully recovered.
Authorities have identified the prime suspect as Lwanyaga Joseph, a local mechanic believed to have masterminded the robbery. Lwanyaga, who is currently on the run, has a history of similar offenses and had previously been arrested and released on police bond.
The two suspects currently in custody are being held at Mukono Police Station, where they have recorded statements. Law enforcement continues its manhunt for Lwanyaga, with police urging anyone with information about his whereabouts to come forward.
The recovered vehicle is undergoing forensic analysis as investigations continue into the whereabouts of the stolen Toyota RAV4 and any possible accomplices.
Wakiso Police have reiterated their commitment to tackling vehicle theft and ensuring the safety of local communities.
