Miriam Ekirapa Musaali
Uganda’s legal fraternity and broader public are mourning the death of Advocate Miriam Ekirapa Musaali, a distinguished legal professional serving in the Legal Department of the Capital Markets Authority (CMA).
Her passing was confirmed by the Uganda Law Society (ULS), sparking an outpouring of grief from colleagues, friends, and prominent public figures who described her as an exceptional lawyer and a warm, impactful human being.
Former Leader of Opposition Winnie Kiiza paid tribute to Ekirapa’s compassion and commitment to humanity. “Miriam was a warm human and dedicated to human development. My deepest condolences to Ruth Ekirapa, Mr. Musaali, the entire Ekirapa family, and her friends. May her soul rest in peace,” she said.
Ex-BBC journalist Alan Kasujja reflected on their childhood friendship and the generosity of the Ekirapa family. “It’s heartbreaking to learn that my dear old friend Miriam Ekirapa Musaali has passed away. We hadn’t been in touch much over the years but we grew up on Namirembe Hill. The Ekirapas were just great people—welcoming! I’ll pray for her family and friends. May she RIP.”
Businesswoman Derrian Bitature also mourned her, describing Ekirapa as an inspiring figure. “Deepest condolences, prayers, and thoughts to the Ekirapas and more so Jack and the entire Musaali family.”
Many others expressed sorrow over the loss of a promising young professional.
“A brilliant person and an even greater mind. Uganda has lost a great person,” noted David Mushanga.
“We lost a gem. RIP dear Miriam,” wrote Carol Nyangoma Mukisa.
“Another young great mind lost. This is so sad,” added Ninsiima Claire.
Ekirapa is remembered as a dedicated lawyer whose work at the Capital Markets Authority contributed to strengthening Uganda’s financial regulatory environment. Her death marks a significant loss to both the legal community and the nation.
Funeral arrangements are expected to be communicated by the family and the Uganda Law Society.
