The cost of sending money through MTN Mobile Money has gone up by at least 50%, effective May 25, 2024. 

In a notice issued Friday, sending between Shs 1 and Shs 499 will be free.

However, sending between Shs 500 and Shs 5, 000 will be at a fee of Shs 100. 

The cost of sending between Shs 5,001 and Shs 60,000 has been maintained at Shs 500. The same applies to sending between Shs 60,001 and Shs 500,000. 

Sending between Shs 500,001 and Shs 1, 000,000 has gone up by Shs 500 from Shs 1, 000. 

Equally, the cost of sending Shs between Shs 1, 000,001 and Shs 5, 000,000 now stands at Shs 2, 000, up from Shs 1, 000. 

This is ahead of the new financial year, 2024/2025.
