Bugonga, Entebbe: The family of Mzee Nyeko is mourning the death of their elder.
Mzee Nyeko died on Easter Sunday.
His family, however, says negligence and unprofessionalism cost them the life of Nyeko.
“He was scheduled for a brain tumor operation at Mulago hospital. He was asked to pay Shs 10 million, which was paid. However, on the day of operation, he was informed that the operation had been rescheduled for next week because the only anesthetist around was not feeling well,” a family source says.
Ministry of Health Spokesperson, Emmanuel Ainebyoona, confirms the incident.
However, he explains that “I am informed that he developed complications post surgery after the Neurosurgeons had done whatever was humanely possible to save his life.”
“He was granted a waiver and never paid any money. I won’t go much into details.”
Mzee Nyeko was the choir master at Bugonga Parish and renowned elder in the corporate circle living in Entebbe.
