President Yoweri Museveni, who also doubles as the commander-in-chief of the armed forces, has appointed Abas Byakagaba and James Ocaya as his deputy.
Until recently, Byakagaba was at the level of Assistant Inspector General of Police (AIGP) and Director of Counter Terrorism.
This follows the retirement of Martins Okoth Ochola last month. His deputy, Maj. Gen. Geoffrey Katsigazi, will have to return to the army.
This is a developing story.
