Museveni fires jailed Ssali, appoints Kakooza as Trade PS

President Yoweri Museveni has dropped the embattled Permanent Secretary, Ministry of Trade, Geraldine Ssali, and appointed Alex Kakooza as the new PS of Trade, Industries, and Cooperatives. Ssali was recently remanded for causing losses of over Shs 4 billion in cooperative money.
Kakooza was introduced to the MTIC staff at 10 a.m. on Friday.
Kakooza served as the PS in the ministry of education until July 2021, when he was moved to the office of the president as the Principal Private Secretary to the Vice President.
