Muyenga: How Gate man plotted Shs 41.5 million robbery at NRM boss Nekesa’s residence

By Davis Mugabi

Details have emerged of how a gate man identified as Wango plotted robbery on her boss and the NRM National Treasurer, Barbara Nekesa.

The incident happened at Nekesa’s residence in Muyenga, a high-end suburb of Kampala, on December 5, 2023.

On November 30, 2023, Nekesa had withdrawn Shs 41.5 million from dfcu Bank Nakasero Branch and carried it home.

Days later, Wango connived with thieves, opened for them the gate, and led them to the maids’ room. At gun point, the maid was ordered to open the kitchen, from where the thieves gained access to Nekesa’s bedroom. Meanwhile, Wango remained in the maids’ room watching over her. During this time, Nekesa’s bodyguard identified as PC Wafana was being beaten to a near death.

However, early morning, before detectives arrived at Nekesa’s residence to examine what happened, it was already posted on X that the ex-ambassador to South Africa had lost Shs 3 billion in the robbery. It raised the questions of who executed the robbery, their intention and how the X-user was quick enough to know what happened at the residence of the NRM boss.

Wango is currently in police custody as investigations into the matter continue.
