Over 4,000 local and international delegates are expected in the country ahead of the Non-Aligned Movement (NAM) and G-77 + China Summits in Kampala.

The Summits run from January 15, 2024 and January 23, 2024, at the Speke Resort in Munyonyo.

While updating the nation on the security preparedness ahead of the Summits, Police Spokesman Fred Enanga said some delegates have started arriving.

Enanga said all has been put in place to secure the delegates during this period.

“We have a comprehensive security arrangements to detect, deter and disrupt any emergencies,” said Enanga. These arrangements, he said, start from the Airport, on the Lake, along the Summit routes, in and around the venue. Overt and Covert officers have been deployed to monitor the situation.

No specific threats have been directed to the Summits, Enanga added.

Addressing the media in Kampala on Friday, Enanga appealed to the delegates to cooperate with security teams, and asked them to be vigilant.

Enanga urged Ugandans to remain welcoming, hospitable and friendly.
