Yesterday, FDC Spokesman, Ibrahim Ssemujju Nganda and his Vice President for Buganda Region, Erias Lukwago accused Patrick Amuriat leadership of receiving billions of shillings from the NRM in the run up to the 2021 general polls.
This was during a gathering of a section of FDC members at Nsambya Sharing Hall in Kampala.
The Ssemujjus said they had set up a committee to probe Amuriat and FDC Secretary General, Nandala Mafabi.
However, in an interview with New Vision, Amuriat said “These were brought to our attention by the founding father, Dr. Kizza Besigye.”
“He said he had got intelligence information that money came from wrong sources. He again sought to find out from us the leadership of the party. Being respectful, we went to him and we had a series of meetings. We gave him evidence of the resources used during the initial stages of our campaigns. He did not believe this and said he had evidence and we have been talking to each other until recently when they threatened to go public and made a scathing attack on the FDC leadership,” Amuriat said.
Amuriat and Mafabi are expected to address the issues in a press conference at the FDC headquarters in Najjanankumbi on Wednesday.
