An RDC in the eastern district of Manafwa has lost her job after an audio in which she was heard plotting to connive with the DPC and rig the NRM party primaries in favor of one candidate leaked.
In the audio recorded over a phone call, the RDC was heard convincing the candidate on his move.
However, he had mistakenly called the wrong candidate, who used the opportunity to record the conversation. The recording was played before NRM election officials, led by Dr. Tanga Odoi, in the presence of all candidates.
In the elections held on Thursday, both the candidate the RDC was plotting to rig on behalf of and the complainant all lost. A little-known candidate took the day.
Now, reports indicate that the RDC has been suspended over the matter.
The Office of the President is yet to issue official communication regarding the matter.
