The Rotary Club of Uptown Kampala on Friday hosted the Rotary District 9213 Governor, Rtn. Geoffrey Kitakule, marking the occasion with the launch of the Mkazi Community Library, an initiative aimed at empowering women and girls through access to education and learning resources.

The community library, established in partnership with KCB Bank Uganda and Mkazipreneur, is designed to support literacy, entrepreneurship, and lifelong learning, particularly among women and young girls within the community.

During his visit, District Governor Kitakule also participated in a Peace and Conflict Resolution dialogue with women vendors from Ntinda Market, who are beneficiaries of Rotary-supported programs. The engagement was held in recognition of Rotary’s Peace and Conflict Resolution/Prevention Month, underscoring the organization’s commitment to fostering peaceful and inclusive communities.

The event culminated in a fellowship ceremony during which new members were inducted and Paul Harris Fellows (PHFs) were pinned in recognition of their outstanding commitment to Rotary’s values and humanitarian service.

Speaking at the event, Immy Nakyeyune, the Charter President of the Rotary Club of Uptown Kampala, described the launch of the library as a significant milestone for the club and the wider community.

“The launch of this community library is a testament to the Rotary Club of Uptown Kampala’s dedication to education and community development. We hope the community embraces this initiative to support knowledge expansion and empowerment,” Nakyeyune said.
“We are deeply honored to host the District Governor as we celebrate this milestone and recognize the achievements of our members.”

The Rotary Club of Uptown Kampala is a growing service organization bringing together professionals committed to community service, education, and sustainable development. The event highlighted the club’s continued efforts to create meaningful and lasting impact within Kampala.
