Number of Ugandan men going for DNA paternity test up by 70% – Internal Affairs
By Davis Mugabi
The Ministry of Internal Affairs has revealed that the number of people running to the Government Analytical Laboratory has gone up by 70% in the last few weeks.
Simon Peter Mundeyi, the Ministry’s Spokesperson says over 50, 000 fathers have approached the Directorate seeking the service. Mundeyi says this is a huge number compared to the number the Directorate was getting in the past weeks/months.
These are men, he said, who are sometimes armed with an envelope containing hair belonging to the children.
“I have not seen women,” Mundeyi said. He, however, said that it is wrong to carry hair to the directorate.
He assured the public about the accuracy of the results, putting it at 99.999% accuracy.
