A staff member of the National Water and Sewerage Corporation (NWSC) has died and another has been critically injured following an incident at Katwe Market in Makindye Division in Kampala.
The deceased has been identified as Twinomugisha, aged 40.
Victor Baguma is in a critical condition at Mulago Hospital.
Kampala Metropolitan Police Spokesperson Patrick Onyango confirmed the incident.
Onyango said that the NWSC team had responded to customer complaints of sewerage leakage in the area. It was then that the corporation sent a team and found out that the line had been tampered with as a result of the ongoing road works in the area.
However, one person, a staff member of NWSC, died while another was left injured during the process of unblocking the line.
Onyango says that inquiries on the circumstances under which Twinomugisha died are ongoing.
