RIP: Won Nyaci Yosam Odur Ebii
The Lango Cultural Foundation (LCF), in consultation with the family of the late Paramount Chief, Won Nyaci me Lango Yosam Odur Ebii, has released the official funeral program ahead of his burial this weekend.
According to the programme issued by the Speaker of LCF, the funeral rites will span several days and feature regional, cultural, religious, and state-level tributes honouring the legacy of the revered cultural leader.
Key Activities and Dates
📌 Saturday, 22nd November 2025 — Official Burial (Teboke, Apac District)
The late Won Nyaci will be laid to rest in Teboke, Apac District. The burial ceremony will begin at 10:00 am and is expected to attract thousands, including cultural leaders, government officials, and mourners from across Lango and Uganda.
📌 Friday, 21st November 2025 — Requiem Service & Vigil
A major requiem service will be held at All Saints Cathedral Boroboro starting at 9:00 am, followed by a night vigil.
📌 Thursday, 20th November 2025 — Joint Regional Special Council Sitting
Local governments from across the Lango sub-region will hold a special council sitting at the Mayor’s Gardens in Lira City in honour of the late Won Nyaci.
📌 Wednesday, 19th November 2025 — Vigil & Tributes Night
A cultural and artistic tribute night will be held at the LCF Offices in Senior Quarters, featuring:
– Poetry
– Songs and music performances
– Skits
– Photo exhibitions
– Testimonies and tributes
📌 Tuesday, 18th November 2025 — Documentation Committee Report
The LCF Documentation Committee will formally present its findings and biographical records on the life and legacy of the late Won Nyaci to the LCF Cabinet and Council.
📌 13th–18th November 2025 — Biographical Data Collection
Daily meetings have been held to compile historical and biographical information on the life and times of the late cultural leader.
📌 Daily — Condolence Book Signing
Condolence books have been placed at all district offices across the Lango sub-region, as well as at:
– LCF Offices
– FM Radio Stations
Members of the public are encouraged to sign and pay tribute.
