One dead as Luwero welcomes new bishop

Luwero Diocese has this morning officially welcomed their new bishop, Rt. Wilson Kisekka.
However, on Wednesday, the convoy welcomed the new bishop.
One person died in the incident.
The deceased has been identified as Hassan Matovu, 39.
The incident happened at Mile 20 in Bombo along the Gulu Kampala Highway and involved motor vehicle registration number UBC 611C (Land Cruiser Prado) and an unknown motorcycle that claimed the life of Matovu.
Preliminary information indicates that at about 1120/c at mile 20 Bombo motor vehicle reg no. UBC 611C LAND CRUISER PRADO Being driven by Manyire Keneth being led by a leading police vehicle to go and bring the New Bishop of Luwero Church of Uganda, the driver overtook the lead car and went ahead and knocked on a bodaboda cyclist. The victim was rushed to Bombo General Military Hospital, where he shortly passed on.
Regional Police Spokesman Sam Twiineamaziima said that after the accident, the driver drove ahead at Mile 19 in Bombo, parked the vehicle, and reported the accident. However, he decided to run away.
“Traffic officers at the checkpoint, with the help of the commander of the lead car and crews, chased the driver, arrested him, and detained him at Bombo,” said Twiineamaziima.
