Op_Ed: Do girls have to struggle to prove that they deserve to go to school?
By Joan Kembabazi
According to UNESCO,129 million girls globally are out of school of which 50 million girls are in sub-Saharan Africa.
And when it comes to my community, the importance of girls’ education is overlooked and still being considered as wastage of money as 1 in 4 girls is able to complete her education.
So many girls are being held back by various barriers from acquiring good quality education to enable them achieve their dreams.
Yet,girls deserve to realize their fullest potential, follow their dreams and become change makers, philanthropists and leaders of today and tomorrow.
Now more than ever, governments and stakeholders must urgently take proactive steps to ensure that all girls complete a full cycle of basic education by 2030.
