The Directorate of Citizenship and Immigration Control (DCIC) has revealed that only 0.03% of Ugandans own passports. This means that over 99% of Ugandans don’t have passports.
Internal Affairs Spokesperson Simon Peter Mundeyi confirmed the percentage describing it as worrying.
“This is worryingly low,” he told the media in Kampala on Monday.
According to Mundeyi, a passport is just like a national which he said every Uganda must have.
Mundeyi appealed to Ugandans to step forward and apply for passports.
