Opposition Members of Parliament this afternoon walked out of Parliament in protest over increasing torture, extrajudicial killing and incarceration of opposition members. They were led by the Leader of the Opposition, Mathias Mpuuga.
However, reacting to the incident, Government Chief Whip Thomas Tayebwa said that “Whereas it is a right of our colleagues in opposition to walk out of a parliamentary session, I feel there was still room for engagement on the issues they are raising.”
“They’ve walked out on us but we won’t walk out on them. We shall look into their issues and respond accordingly,” Tayebwa tweeted.
