A pedestrian has died following a road traffic crash involving Lands, Housing and Urban Development Minister Judith Nabakooba along the Kampala–Masaka Highway.
According to Traffic Police Spokesperson Michael Kananura, the incident occurred on April 1, 2026, at around 8:30am at Kibukula Swamp.
The crash involved a Toyota Land Cruiser Prado, registration number UBR 811D, and a pedestrian identified as Batera Flavia, a resident of Kyengera, who died at the scene.
Kananura said both the driver of the vehicle and Minister Nabakooba sustained minor injuries. They were rushed to Nkozi Hospital for treatment and were later discharged.
The body of the deceased was taken to Gombe Hospital Mortuary for a postmortem examination.
Police have since towed the vehicle to the station for inspection as investigations into the cause of the crash get underway.
Authorities have urged all road users to exercise caution, particularly along busy highways, to prevent further loss of life.
