A trainee pilot at the Soroti Flying School this morning survived death after an aircraft she was flying crash-landed in Nyakua swamp in Ochulia village, Opete parish, Obutete Sub County in Pallisa district.

She has been identified as Mercy Mulai, 24.

Mulai holds a private pilot license and is legal to fly an aircraft.

The police say the cause of the accident is yet to be established and that Mulai is responding well to treatment at Pallisa General Hospital.

Efforts are underway to have the wreckage of the aircraft retrieved to the dry land, Regional Police Spokesperson ASP Immaculate Alaso said.
