Senior Police officers last evening fled funeral of No. 45549 PC Wakulu Sedulaki after rowdy mourners turned violent.
PC Wakulu was beaten by mob on Saturday night on suspicion that he was a thief. He succumbed to injuries on Sunday morning.
During funeral at Lyama village, Lyama sub-county in Budaka, Police’s top leadership were represented by the Regional Police Commander – Bukedi, Regional Crime Intelligence (CI) and Regional PRO.
However, mourners turned around and accused the Police of delaying to respond to the scene and failing to arrest perpetrators of the mob action.
Eyewitnesses said the officers shot their way out of the funeral.
