News coming in suggests that Prof. Morris Ogenga Latigo was last night involved in a road accident.

The incident happened at Lubenge Swamp, Luwero Town Council, on a long Gulu-Kampala highway in Luwero district.

Eyewitnesses said the incident happened at 11:58 p.m. when a car with registration number UBG 961D (Mercedes Benz, silver in color) rammed into a truck with registration number UBJ 070B (Tata, white in color) belonging to Victoria Sugar Factory. The said truck had run out of fuel and, as such, blocked traffic.

Regional Police Spokesman Sam Twiineamaziima confirmed the incident.

He said Prof. Ogenga, the former Member of Parliament for Agano and ex-Leader of Opposition, sustained minor injuries and was rushed to Lacor Hospital for treatment.

The truck driver remains at large.

Both vehicles were towed to the Kakoge Police Station parking lot pending an IOV inspection.

“A serious accident was registered, relevant statements were recorded, and the hunt for the driver is ongoing,” ASP Twiineamaziima said in a statement Sunday.
