A retired senior police officer has lost his seat as clan leader after he removed Shs 2 million from the Shs 10 million the President had given to a bereaved family.
President Yoweri Museveni recently donated Shs 10 million to the family of the late Charles Owani in Apac district. The said money was delivered by JB Uhuru, the legal officer at the Office of the National NRM Chairman, Kyambogo. Superintendent of Police (SP) Rtd. Charles Oyuku received the money on the grounds that he was the clan leader of Okadameri. Although Oyuku received Shs 10 million, he delivered only Shs 8 million. Oyuku allegedly picked the Shs 2 million out of the total Shs 10 million with claims that he would go as “kickback” to those who processed it.
Not much is known about how the gap became known. However, the RDC of Apac, George Abudul, has recovered the money and handed it over to Owani’s family.
Meanwhile, Oyuku was dropped at the weekend as the clan head of Okadameri and replaced by Francis Orec.
