Fresh details have emerged in the murder of Pamela Tumwebaze, the Director of Students Affairs at Uganda Christian University (UCU), as the prime suspect is expected to be produced in court today, Wednesday.
Investigators say the suspect, Hussein Dak, a former house help at Tumwebaze’s residence, killed her following a dispute linked to a pay cut and eventual dismissal.
Sources close to the investigation reveal that Dak had worked in the household for a long time and had become more than just an employee, enjoying a high level of trust and freedom within the family. This, investigators believe, may have led him to think his job was secure.
However, towards the end of 2025, several sports bikes belonging to Tumwebaze’s children reportedly went missing from the family’s gated residence. According to police sources, Tumwebaze confronted Dak over the disappearance and warned that if the bikes were not recovered, his salary would be reduced.
Investigators say the situation escalated, and Dak was dismissed from his job in December 2025. As he left, he reportedly told police that he promised to return to collect what he considered his personal belongings.
Police allege that on February 11, 2026, Dak returned to the home, where he later attacked and killed Tumwebaze.
He was arrested days later and is expected to be arraigned in court as investigations continue. Police say more details will be presented before court as prosecution takes over the matter.
