Revealed: How senior police officer supplied gun to UPDF deserter in murder of city lawyer over business dealings

By Davis Mugabi

A joint security team has in custody four people over the murder of city lawyer, Ronnie Mukisa.

Mukisa was brutally killed last week by an unknown assailant.

However, after 11 days of intense probe, four people have been arrested.

They are Businessman Robert Karedu Irama and his wife, Brenda Nalwoga. Others are Senior police officer, SP Vincent Irama and a UPDF deserter, Cpl Max Anyuse.

Investigations show that the businessman had a number of business dealings with Mukisa. However, it appears that they developed conflict along the way. That’s how the businessman approached senior police officer SP Irama. SP Irama and the businessman knew each other from the time the latter was working in Entebbe. All this time, he was giving protection to the businessman. The police officer would then approach Cpl Max Anyuse, a UPDF deserter as the hitman. Information available indicates that Anyuse has since confessed to the murder using a gun supplied by SP Irama.

Anyuse shot 4 bullets in two intervals, killing Mukisa instantly. After, as he went on a waiting motorcycle, he phoned Nalwoga and informed her that the mission had been accomplished.

“Their actions are regrettable. They are not representative of the two disciplined Forces (Police and UPDF)”, Police Spokesperson Fred Enanga told the media on Monday.
