A senior six student of Kitebi Secondary School has committed suicide by hanging after claiming that her teacher abused her.

The deceased has been identified as Bright Namusoke, 20.

Katwe Police Division say the incident happened yesterday at about 4pm in Ngobe Zone, Bunamwaya Division in Makindye Ssabagabo Municipality in Wakiso District.  

According to one of the deceased’s relatives, Namusoke came back from school and informed them that a teacher abused her and as such, she was so angry. 

The relatives didn’t take it seriously, Deputy Kampala Metropolitan Police Spokesperson Luke Owoyesigyire said, “They later found her in one of the rooms in their house hanging on a rope.”

Owoyesigyire added, “Several relevant statements have been recorded to help with the investigations.”

By press time, Namusoke’s body was conveyed to the city mortuary at Mulago for post mortem.
